In Venezuelan culture, Nucita is a chocolate cream. What does Venezuelan Nucita have to do with Anoeska? Anoeska is a Dutch teacher who, during her stay in Venezuela, won the affection of those who met her. However, the name Anoeska was difficult for Venezuelans and other Latinos to pronounce. Anoeska said, “You can call me Anoes or Noezie as derivatives of my name; my family and friends also call me that.” Immediately, someone said, “We’ll call you Nucita because you’re sweeter than Nucita chocolate.” Thus, Anoeska became Nucita, a term of endearment for Venezuelans and for those of us who have the opportunity to know her today.
